Proofs the textual and visual errors, and ensures prints are done without errors. Proofreads the text before printing. Oversees textual and visual revision, and proofing of the textual and visual material, text, proof sheet or printed form, tracks errors and mistakes.

 

Duties and responsibilities

1- General proofing of the text

a- Controls the text for bunching and proper titling, applies corrections if need be.

b- Proofs the text for page numbers, indents, text placement, and contents page etc.

c- Proofs the titles and sub-titles for formal errors, applies corrections if need be.

2- Reviews the proof sheet and printed text before publishing

a- Reviews the text for:

– Proper spelling,

– Missing words/letters,

– Syllabi and line formation,

– Misplaced characters, excess or missing punctuation,

– Foreign or antiquated Turkish terms,

– Any conflicts with company policy, and unpreferable words.

b- Places proof symbols for revision,

c- Finds out synonyms and applies corrections if need be,

d- Proofs the captions of visual content,

e- Proofs the data and information of the graphics, diagrams, and drawings and applies corrections if need be.

3- Proofreads the proof sheet

a- Checks the page design and notifies the editor in case of inconsistency,

b- Marks errors on the page or chapter,

c- Checks the information texts on the pages (tags, footnotes, works cited etc),

d- Oversees the error correction process; marks missed spelling, textual or visual errors and applies corrections if need be.

4- Reviews text after printing

a- Notifies the relevant person for errors and tracks their correction process in reprints.

b- Tracks correction process in reprints and applies corrections if needed.
